A Boy and a Horse Running in the Mongolian Prairie

Based on the story of Sukh's White Horse from a school textbook, this piece was composed at the age of eight and played with the matouqin (horse-headed xylophone) at the age of ten.

Miwa Suginomoto

Miwa Suginomoto was born in Tokyo. At age 4, Miwa began studying piano, music theory, ensemble, composition and arranging with Mrs. Rie Atarashi. Miwa came to the United States in 2002 and became a piano student of Mr. Edwin Deveny. From 2005 to 2009, she studied with Dr. Joseph Matthews, Dr. Anna Grinberg and Dr. Louise Thomas at Chapman University. From 2009 to 2012, Miwa studied with Ms. Antoinette Perry at USC Thornton School of Music where she earned her Master's Degree in Piano Performance.
During her university years, she performed many chamber pieces with violin, viola, cello and flute as well as a piano trio which included clarinet and viola. In 2010, she performed Schumann Quintet with Gaia String Quartet, and she attended the Saarburg International Music Festival in Germany to study ensemble. In the summer of 2007 and 2011, she attended the Aspen Music Festival and School and studied with Ms. Antoinette Perry and Ms. Ann Schein.
Miwa began playing the French horn at age 12. She performed with the Toho Girls School Orchestra (Japan), the Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Orchestra (CA) and the Chapman University Wind Symphony. She also performed the pipe organ in the university hall.

Since 2012, Miwa has taught piano at YAMANO music school in Azabu, Japan with using both Japanese and English.
